Tory donor warns May on single market access

Tory donor Sir Andrew Cook told The Times he would stop funding the Conservative Party if Prime Minister Theresa May took the UK out of the EU single market. Cook has provided over £1.2 million to the party. “It is very difficult to make a political donation to a party when, although I support it ideologically, I do not believe that my interests and my ideology are ad idem with the principal Brexiteers,’ he said, describing leaving the single market as sleepwalking to disaster.

The Times quoted another unnamed Tory backer who said he was experiencing donor fatigue.
