Source: Enterprise Ireland’s revised export guide

This 36-page revised exporters’ guide issued by Enterprise Ireland in July 2016 was an exercise in reassurance – nothing will change on the short term, the new relationship with the UK won’t emerge for some years so meantime it is business as usual, and business is good – their clients recorded €7.5 billion in exports to the UK last year. The post-referendum revision is really a supplement to their earlier publication “Information guide for Irish exporters to the UK” which with exquisite irony was issued on the day of the referendum. The revised guide goes through immediate issues such as currency risk, tax and legal issues and throughout the tone is resolutely upbeat. Enterprise Ireland and its parent organisation IDA have proved their worth through decades of economic challenges so we should probably take their advice now.
