This 9-page document was issued precisely 10 days before the referendum and was clearly designed to boost the Remain campaign. It started off with testimony from the great and the good of commerce – Airbus, BMW, Ford, Shell, Vodafone, BT, Siemens – on the need to stay in the single market. Then came a steady and relentless stream of powerful economic arguments outlining the consequences of a Leave vote. Like so much pre-referendum literature, the presumption of a Remain vote pervades all. They must have been devastated on the 25th. We certainly were.
