Brexit voters want hard border

Fifty-seven per cent of those who voted for Brexit want passport controls on the Irish border, according to a poll by NatCen Social Research. A majority of UK voters also support continued membership of the Single Market (having your cake) along with strict immigration controls (and eating it). Theresa May can negotiate with Brussels on the basis of a Hard Brexit menu or a Soft Brexit one, but sooner or later she will have to face voters who think they will be able to pick’n mix because that is what they were told before the referendum.
